Cherry Poppin’ Daddies:
The Cherry Poppin’ Daddies were conceived by former University of Oregon student, Steve Parry, who posed an interesting question: what if a punk rock rhythm section shared a practice space with jazz-schooled horn players and an equally trained keyboardist? The result was astonishing, and as the Daddies began selling out local clubs, they drew comparisons to Fishbone, Faith No More, and Bad Brains. Then, after finding themselves relegated to the “ska” bill, the Daddies incorporated big band swing into their musical mix and soon found their unique style welcomed by more mainstream formats. The band released “Zoot Suit Riot: The Swingin’ Hits of the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies in 1997, an album which eventually sold over two million copies. In their 19th year the band is poised to begin a new phase of their career with their latest album, "Susquehanna", which incorporates a typically Daddy-esque melange of styles. As a live act, the Daddies remain one of the most musically diverse and raucously entertaining performers in the Northwest and beyond.
